The book highlights the socio-economic and cultural problems of ethnography, develops a new principle for classifying ethnic communities, examines the ratio of modern urban culture and traditional cultures among different peoples. Various aspects of the primitive economy are analyzed, in particular the types of distribution of surplus product and the domestication of animals. Some of the provisions put forward are debatable.
