Part 1. Deformation and destruction - The first part of the monograph contains information from the mechanics of continuous media, the laws of elastic and plastic deformation and destruction of metals, the effect of time, loading and deformation rates, high pressures and temperatures on metal properties are considered. Data on residual stresses, anisotropy of mechanical properties are given, analysis of fracture structure is given. Modern statistical and dislocation ideas about deformation and destruction are considered. Part 2. Mechanical tests. Structural strength - In the second part of the monograph, the properties of metals determined by static tests, their sensitivity to notch and crack are considered. Information is given on deformation and destruction at long-term single and cyclic loading, impact loads, from thermal stresses, on the Rebinder effect. Issues of similarity of modeling, scale factor and assessment of structural strength are considered.
