Belarusian woodcut of the twentieth century. known for the works of the Vitebsk artist Solomon Borisovich Yudovin (1894-1954), who began working in the field of engraving in Vitebsk in 1920, first on linolium and then on wood. The content for his engravings Yudovin drew from the surrounding life of Vitebsk - the city of small artisans and merchants. The strongest point of Yudovin's engravings is their content, vividly conveying the types and life of the Jewish poor. The Vitebsk period of the artist's work lasted until the beginning of World War II.
