For the first time, the quality of the surface layer of parts at all stages of their life cycle (design, technological preparation of production, manufacture, control, assembly, testing, diagnostics, operation, repair, restoration and disposal) was comprehensively considered, as a result of which the doctrine of surface engineering was formed, which now occupies one of the leading places in technology.
