His famous historical work "Histoire de la r? volution fran? aise," presenting a review of the course of events in France from 1789 to 1814, was published by François Migner in 1824. In his brilliant work, Migne set out to justify the revolution in the eyes of his contemporaries and glorify the middle class. Introducing political convictions into scientific work, Migne is still quite objective in comparison with other historians of that time. The story, according to Migne, is intertwined from a series of "inevitable" events; he develops in his book a picture of the "inevitable logical course" of ideas. Hence his historical fatalism, justification of terror, execution of the Girondins, Napoleon. The compressed language, excellent characteristics, the noble tone of the entire composition made his "History" a popular book in Europe.
