The monograph is devoted to the consideration of an important social problem: the formation of the activities of one of the types of public organizations in Russia - the officer assembly. The work sums up the results of many years of research on the experience of developing officer meetings, organizing leisure activities and educating officers of the Russian army, the Armed Forces of the USSR and modern Russia. Based on the generalization of large factual material and the introduction of new documents into scientific circulation, the problem of the development of officer meetings in the period from 1779 to 2009 is first investigated, the regulatory and legal foundations of their organization are considered. The work is intended for military personnel and a wide range of readers interested in the development of the Armed Forces of Russia and the social life of St. Petersburg, the history of which is associated with the origin and activities of this type of public organizations.
