The monograph examines the problems and prospects of technical development in the interpretation of the largest philosophers of the 20th century - O. Spengler, L. Mamford, M. Heidegger and other representatives of the Frankfurt School of Social Research, French industrial sociology. Technology as a moment of human activity, as artifice, has attracted the attention of philosophers since ancient times. However, the phenomenon of technology became a great philosophical problem only when society began to realize its own development as a movement along the path of "technical," technized civilization and perceive this path as irreversible. Philosophers, as shown in the book, made a very great contribution to the understanding of these problems, speaking with their own "non-technical" approach to the problems of technology, with a critical generalization of the historical development and use of technology by society.
