The book analyzes a wide range of problems associated with the creation of a sovereign Cuban state, Cuba's total dependence on the United States in the first half of the 20th century, the revolution of the early 30s and the Cuban revolution of 1959 led by F. Castro. Much attention is paid to Cuban-American and Cuban-Soviet (Russian) relations, the Caribbean crisis, the "special period" of Cuban history from 1991 to the beginning of the 21st century.
