It was assumed that symbols may have invisible power over people or be part of lost knowledge. Created in 1935, the SS research society "Heritage of Ancestors" from the very beginning was engaged not only in the search for these symbols, but also in their interpretation. This was one of the central directions in the activities of the first president of the "Heritage of the Ancestors" Herman Wirth. The book of the historian Andrei Vasilchenko tells about how National Socialist heraldry was formed.
