The book contains reports and speeches made at the conference by leading Russian historians, ethnologists, philologists, economists and researchers of other disciplines studying the problems of the Chechen Republic and the Caucasus as a whole, who are mostly professors of higher educational institutions of the Chechen Republic and the Complex Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Grozny). The publication considers a wide range of issues - from topical problems of the ancient and medieval history of Chechnya to the prospects for its development as a subject of the Russian Federation. Much attention is paid to the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, the reconstruction of the national economy and social sphere destroyed during military operations, education, the state of the environment and resources, as well as social life and politics.
