This book describes some processes that occur in the everyday world, as well as in atoms, atomic nuclei, planets, stars and galaxies, tells about the duration of these processes, in some cases equal to only millionths of a billionth of a second, and in others - hundreds of millions and billions of years. Thus, a "cut" of the World was made according to one of its main coordinates, namely in time. This approach made it possible to show how the concept of time and the methods of its measurement gradually changed and improved, and what fundamental achievements this led to. The book tells about the deepening and change of scientific ideas, about the interweaving of the progress of scientific and technical and their mutual stimulation. It reports on a number of scientific facts, tells about what basis, what methods and how they were mined, and this, at least to some extent, allows you to understand the spirit of science and its development.
