The monograph is devoted to a deep art history study in the best traditions of Soviet art history of a unique phenomenon in the history of art culture of Russia - a miniature portrait. The study reveals little-known aspects of the cultural life of Russian society of the 18th century, gives a wide panorama of the life of different strata of Russian society, studies the characteristic features of the miniature and the role it played in Russian society of the 18th century.
