Book "There was such a City. Makhachkala" consists of the memories of the residents of Makhachkala about their hometown. But at the same time, it cannot be called a collection - it is rather a polyphonic novel, where different voices merge into a long echo of the departed, and many human stories make up one long history of the city (conditional chronology - late XIX - early XX centuries). An alternative story to the official and official one, consisting of childhood impressions, family and everyday details of the everyday life of the townspeople.
