Alexander Pavlovich Kutepov belonged to the heroic type of people who advanced in the tragic periods of Russian history. One of the leaders of the White movement, he fought in three wars (Russo-Japanese, World War I and Civil). After the defeat of the volunteers, he tried to preserve the Russian army in Gallipoli and the Balkans, continuing in exile the struggle with the new state formed after the collapse of the empire. The abduction and death of General Kutepov is one of the most mysterious episodes of the confrontation between the OGPU and the Russian All-Military Union (ROVS).
