The Great Artists series consists of 100 albums of world painting. On the pages of books - biographies of artists, the main milestones of creativity, their role in world culture. Each album has about 50 illustrations. Isaac Ilyich Levitan (1860-1900) is the largest master of the Russian landscape of the late 19th century, who laid down the principles of symbolism and modernity in this genre. The artist overcame the conventions of the classic-romantic landscape, partly preserved by the Wanderers. Levitan's "mood landscape," for all its amazing natural authenticity, has gained unprecedented psychological richness, expressing the life of the human soul, which peers into nature as the focus of the inexplicable secrets of being, which are visible here, but inexpressible in words.
