The book publishes - in partly revised and supplemented form - the works of 1986-2006, as well as some new studies regarding various aspects of Russian language history. The first part discusses the problems associated with the study of written monuments as the main source of the history of the language, in the second - issues of historical grammar, in the third - historical lexicology and etymology.
