In this work, for the first time in Russian historiography, the history of the creation and functioning of the Group of Border Troops of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic is summarized. Various documentary materials related to this problem were used, including those first introduced into scientific circulation and allowing to supplement previously existing views on this matter.
