The book of selected works of the Russian Indologist A.A. Vigasin included works on source study and the history of Ancient India, thematically divided into three sections: "Edicts of Ashoka and the Mauryan State," "Historical Geography of India in the Light of Ancient Sources," "Shastra and Social Reality." Collected together, these works make it possible to form an integral idea of ​ ​ the social life of the ancient Indians, Indian-Greek relations in the Hellenistic era, the knowledge of the Greeks and Romans about the geography of ancient India.
