This book reflects the events of the Northern War in Estonia, as they saw through the prism of one city, namely Tartu (Derpt). We can say that the tests that fell to the lot of Tartu, in miniature, reflect the history of all Estonia. Storm clouds hung over Tartu immediately with the outbreak of hostilities, from time to time the roar of battles shook its fortress walls, but only four years later the merciless wave of a big war finally covered the city.
