The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of a major, but little-studied event of the Great Patriotic War - the planning of the strategic offensive operation "Commander Rumyantsev" and its first stage, which played a key role in its implementation on the basis of documentary sources of Soviet troops and the Wehrmacht that were not previously introduced into scientific circulation.
