The monograph is devoted to the problems of transformation of the Buryat ethnic identity in various historical periods - from the 17th to the 21st centuries. It will help to further understand the place and role of ethnicity in the historical past and in modern social processes, to take a fresh look at the key moments of the ethnopolitical history of the Buryat people in their inextricable connection with the general development of Russian statehood and society. Within the framework of the paradigm of transnational history, a special historical and cultural methodology was formed, which made it possible to synthesize historical, ethnographic, geopolitical and other knowledge.
