The book deals with the social, economic and political history of Pontus from the formation of an independent state in 302 BC to its transformation into a Roman province. The oldest history of the state created by the Mithridatid dynasty, the internal and foreign policies of the kings in Asia Minor and the Black Sea region are considered.
