The main purpose of the study is a comprehensive source study of a specific historical work - "Bahru-l-asrar fi manakib al-ahyar" by Mahmoud ibn Wali, its features, determining the degree of reliability and completeness of the factual materials provided in it, introducing into scientific circulation the information contained in it historical and historical-geographical nature and determining the place of this source in medieval historiography XVI-XVII centuries.
