The monograph gives a brief history of cometary cosmogony. The concept of the interstellar origin of comets is described in detail. The inconsistency of the hypotheses of Lagrange and Oort is shown. The dynamic relationship of known comets with large planets and with objects of the Kuiper belt has been investigated. It is shown that the radical transformation of cometary orbits is carried out only by Jupiter. Short-period comets? product of capture by Jupiter.
