Baron Rayner Severin, an experienced warrior in the years, is recalled to the capital of the kingdom of Cronfest. He arrives for an audience with the prince, but immediately becomes a victim of palace intrigue and is forced to flee. At the very beginning of the difficult path, the Baron meets the thief Renfield the Quick-footed, who also fell out of favor with the prince. Together they - an undaunted fighter and a cowardly guy - run away. The partners have to get to a safe place, but on their heels something worse moves than royal agents.
