Paul Ricker's book of classics of Western philosophy of the 20th century is devoted to the philosophical development of the theory of recognition. The plan that the thinker follows here is this: first, the consideration of recognition-identification, then the transition from the identification of something in general to the self-recognition of a person, to his selfhood and further from self-recognition to mutual recognition, which grows into human reciprocity, which goes a difficult way from mutual non-recognition to peace and the state of the world. Recognition in the teachings of the philosopher is inextricably linked with human abilities, and above all with the ability to be a responsible subject of one's own activities. From the standpoint of philosophical understanding of the problems of recognition, Ricker considers topical issues of our time discussed in sociological and political thought.
