This book is an attempt to analyze one of the most difficult periods of the formation of Russian art at the beginning of the 18th century, the formation in which traditions and innovation, the problem of the national art form and the new pictorial language, closely intertwined, rest on a single basis of the development of features inherent in Russian national culture.
