The book is the seventh volume of the multi-volume summary "Birds of Russia and Neighboring Regions" (the first four volumes were called "Birds of the USSR"), devoted to the description of the distribution and lifestyle of all types of Pelican, Stork and Flaminglike orders noted on the territory of the former USSR. Species essays provide modern data on breeding areas, wintering sites, flyways, habitats, abundance, nesting ecology, behavior, nutrition and other aspects of biology.
