Works in the field of solving nonlinear problems of mechanics of loose bodies, soils and rocks are summarized. Theoretical bases of mechanics of deformable solid body are considered. The most effective method of numerical analysis in geomechanics is described - the finite element method. Basic techniques for obtaining nonlinear equations using this method are given.
