The original mythological traditions of the Finno-Ugric peoples - Finns and Karelians, Hungarians, Estonians, Mordovians and Mari, Komi and Udmurts, Khanty and Mansi - began to form at the dawn of our era. Myths about the demiurge bird that created the world, about the heavenly hunter and the giant moose, the exploits of the heroes of the famous epic "Kalevala" will certainly arouse the interest of a wide range of readers, especially since a consistent presentation of the mythology of the Finno-Ugric peoples is offered in Russian for the first time.
