This book, written by P. Dixon in 1970, came out at a time when thought factories were in true bloom. In it, the reader is presented with a vivid picture of the emergence and development of various think tanks, including the famous RAND corporation. The author focuses on the description of factories that "do not pollute the environment," "intellectual industries," the main product of which are ideas, analysis, projects, programs. The reprint of the book "Thought Factory" more than thirty years after its publication indicates that the relevance of the topic raised by P. Dixon not only did not decrease, but, on the contrary, increased significantly, especially for Russia.
