This collection includes translations of eleven articles by Herbert Lionel Adolf Hart, written in the "early" period of his work from 1948 to 1960. Despite its seeming thematic disunity, the selected texts share one common point - the similarity in the methodology used. This methodology is associated with the prevailing approach at this time in Oxford to the study of philosophical problems as the advantage of problems of language use. In all these works, the language (mainly the language of law) is given the closest attention, even if in some articles we are not talking about law itself. It is in these works that a special approach to the problems of law is formed, which will be characteristic of the "late" G. Hart (1961-1990). The publication of philosophical works of the "early" G. Hart (1948-1960) introduces the domestic reader to the analytical philosophy of law of the 20th century.
