The book is dedicated to the life and work of the outstanding naturalist, biologist, geographer, anthropologist, full member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences K.M. Baer. The founder of scientific embryology, famous for the discovery of the egg of mammals and humans, classical studies of the history of animal development, K.M. Baer was the largest geographer, leader of the Caspian and Azov expeditions, founder of prehistoric anthropology and scientific archeology, stood at the origins of the creation of the Russian Geographical Society.
