"There was never you. Tspania!" - a collection of gypsy fairy tales recorded and literary processed by the Hungarian philologist Tibor Bartos. Tales collected by Tibor Bartosh tell about the history of the gypsy people, about the origin of some gypsy customs. These are not fairy tales, where everything is fiction, these are legends, fundamentally deeply realistic, although sometimes their plot is interwoven with episodes taken from the bible, and purely fantastic elements. The narration is conducted on behalf of the old gypsy storyteller: this character was artificially introduced into the collection by the compiler to frame the tales and connect them with a single canvas. Thanks to this artificial literary technique, the compiler was able to preserve the juicy and colorful language of folk tales, their humor, rude and crafty.
