The textbook is written in accordance with the program of historical faculties of pedagogical institutes. The first section, consisting of 201 lavas, covers the history of ancient Greece from the Cretan-Mycenaean to the Hellenistic period. The second section (23 chapters) contains the history of the emergence and development and fall of the ancient Roman state, which is the era of the highest development and fall of the slave-owning society of antiquity. For the second edition, the book has been revised to take into account new research. Part one was published in 1979. The first edition was published in 1971.
