When, by the will of circumstances, we survived in those most terrible days and life measured our happiness to kiss our loved ones for five years of damned separation and enthusiastically do what we loved - we had no right, and they could not keep only in their memory the names of those whom the same life watered from its bowl, like a mother, and did not have time to completely saturate: the fascist wrought-iron boot knocked this bowl out of her hands. The voices and shadows of fallen friends, or just our commanders, or just the guards of the rank and file, with whom we went through this incredibly difficult, but, people see, glorious path, made us take up the pen again. What we did not say in the first book, what our memory did not manage to resurrect then, what, in our opinion, still needs to be added in order to explain as accurately as possible the military situation of those years without embellishment and addictions, we tried to say in this book.
