Mike Kaiser is an unsurpassed zealot of the "living Great Russian language" V. I. Dahl, the "great, mighty" I. S. Turgenev and any spontaneous manifestations of the pure spirit of unique Russian speech. As a rule, he shuns unreasonable borrowings from other languages, but they are welcomed when they are justified and, if possible, processed into Russian Saltyk. The compiler worked as a translator in the Russian edition of the Voice of America and in the Library of Congress. In the 90s, by agreement, he collaborated with the US State Department as a simultaneous translator.
