The monograph reviews the historical experience of the construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway and the socio-economic development of adjacent territories in the 1970-1990s. The construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway has become one of the most ambitious late Soviet projects to involve the northern territories of Siberia and the Far East in economic circulation. Despite the fact that the construction of the road began back in the 1930s. (BAMlag and Amurlag camp system) and continues to the present (the so-called BAM-2 project), the bulk of the work fell on 1974-1989, when the BAM was proclaimed the All-Union Komsomol shock construction.
