The book is devoted to the study of the Gibbs paradox associated with an abrupt increase in the entropy of gases when they are mixed. Although this paradox was formulated more than 100 years ago, it still has not received a generally accepted solution. The historical-scientific and physical analysis carried out in the book brings a certain harmony to the understanding of both the Gibbs paradox itself and various points of view on its solution.
