The monograph examines the origins of royal power in Sparta, its development and functions in the classical period. All the warlord kings of the Spartan polis and army are described. Sparta is one of the most famous policies of ancient Greece, which did not know civil upheaval, and his army never retreated in front of the enemy. Having chosen a special path of development associated with a long military expansion, Sparta turned into a semblance of a military camp. The two kings, whose main responsibility was the lifelong leadership of the Spartan army, proved to be central figures in a fully militarized state, as Sparta remained for several centuries.
