The book explores the social processes taking place in an English city of the late Middle Ages. A wide interdisciplinary approach was used: the author bases his conclusions on data from medieval studies, sociology and social psychology. For the first time in domestic science, the multifactorial theory of stratification has received concrete application to the urban society of England of the XIV-XV centuries. Against the background of the transformation of the social structure, profound changes took place in the sphere of class consciousness, which appears in the monograph as a set of ethical, religious, socio-economic and political mental categories.
