The book is the fifth substantially supplemented edition of V.A. Yadov's textbook "Sociological Research: Methodology, Program, Methods." Theoretical and methodological grounds of the research program of quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical data collection and analysis are considered. The procedures for quantifying social characteristics, data collection methods are described in detail; document analysis, observations, surveys, in-depth interviews, statistical techniques for analyzing relationships and interpretive approaches in qualitative research, as well as requirements for organizing theoretical, analytical and applied research. The chapter on qualitative methods of sociological research was written by V.V. Semenova. The book contains appendices of samples of field documents, an annotated list of literature on the methodology of empirical sociological research.
