English researcher of Renaissance culture Frances A. Yates (1899-1981) is one of the most significant figures in the brilliant scientific community known as the Warburg Institute. The book "Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition" (1964) is the first of a series of famous works by Yates, which made it possible to understand the logic of the development of European culture at the beginning of the New Age in a completely new way. Francis A. Yates can rightfully be called one of the first academic scholars of Western esotericism to consider marginal religiosity from the standpoint of classical rationalism. The focus of the researcher is the assumption that the hermetic, or hermetic-Kabbalistic, tradition, with its freedom of knowledge and desire for experiment, paved the way for a scientific revolution.
