Military counterintelligence - a special service aimed at combating enemy agents, sabotage and intelligence activities, with disorganization of the activities of the Armed Forces in the zones of deployment, movement and regrouping, as well as in the front-line zone (transport hubs, recently liberated territories, etc.) in wartime. By the beginning of World War II, the Red Army, military counterintelligence operated at the level of military districts.
