Homer's classic poems "Iliad" and "Odyssey" are given in the translations of N. I. Gnedich and V. A. Zhukovsky, which are considered classical and most fully convey the features of the originals. The introductory essay on the epic of Homer was written by the famous philosopher and poet Vyacheslav Ivanov. The publication used drawings by the English artist John Flaxman, which brought him international fame. The dictionary at the end of the book helps readers to more fully perceive the relationship between the heroes and gods mentioned in the Iliad and Odyssey.
