This book is the result of many years of research by the author. Unlike her previous small book "Pushkin in 1836," which tells the background of the poet's last duel, here we have a chronicle - the author recreates day after day the "works and days" of the great poet in the last year of his life. Built entirely on documentary materials, the book at the same time reads like an action-packed narrative setting out a convincing version of Pushkin's tragedy.
