The publication is devoted to some problems of ethnic attribution and the main historical and cultural parameters of the European Huns; shows the possible directions and structure of ethnohistorical research in general. Political history (wars, campaigns, diplomacy) is considered as an event background and is not highlighted in a special section. Taking into account the experience of domestic and foreign historiography, data from history, ethnology, and archeology are correlated. Information of both theoretical and specific historical nature is provided. The work is equipped with an application that includes biographical information about the authors of the sources, a list of references, tables, maps, illustrations and a mini-anthology.
