The monograph contains a description of the wave-theoretic approach to the study of dynamic processes in one-dimensional elastic systems. From the Hamilton-Ostrogradsky variational principle, refined equations of rod oscillations are derived in the presence of geometric and physical nonlinearities. Dispersion, dissipative and nonlinear effects manifested in propagation of different types of elastic waves are analyzed in detail.
