The book includes two adventure novels by the famous French writer and playwright Victor Hugo - "The Man Who Laughs" translated by B. Lifshitz and "Gan Icelander" translated by A. Sokolova. These works, like many other Hugo novels, are characterized by unexpected plot twists and incredible romantic adventures of the heroes against the backdrop of a harsh and sometimes cruel life. The publication is decorated with illustrations by several French artists at once: Georges Antoine Rochegross, Fortune Louis Meol and Daniel Vierge.
