In the third edition (the second was published in 1983), taking into account the achievements in the field of metallurgy, the mechanics of destruction, a modern interpretation of the physical and technical meaning of the most important mechanical properties is given. Using the theory of defects in the crystalline structure, the processes of deformation and destruction of metals at various temperatures and conditions of load application are considered.
